After hand quilting for years I am working on quilting on my regular machine.

:lol: Oh now you've got me thinking of what else it COULD stand for! 'Perfectly Perfoming Lady'? 'Piecing Perfection Logically'? :mrgreen: :lol:

I use a regular machine, my Viking SE. I get better and better with each quilt! And if I might brag....I'm pretty good! My sister bought a LA.....she quilts the very same as me actually! The difference is I spend time with the sandwiching process and she can just load it. I have done a small queen with my machine.

I used to dream of buying a LA, but at the end of the day I doubt that I will. I have the room as all of 4 kids have moved out into the world, but I think about the huge cost. Then.....I think about all the fabric I can buy for that money!!

I still get very nervous before I start quilting. I work so hard on the pattern selection, the fabric selection, my piecing....I fear ruining it with bad quilting. So, I start with a fresh mind. No time constraints. And sometimes a little glass of wine to calm my nerves!

I tried it and did ok, but I couldn't see myself ever being very good at it, so I bought a long arm.

I get nervous too, guess its because you put so much work into it you want it to be perfect. I was scared to death with I quilted my first quilt on the LA (that was only a few of weeks ago) and it was an old top that I quit working on because I didn't like the way it was going.

What kind did you get? I'm always curious as to what brand people are buying and having success with....with as small a learning curve as possible. :)

I use my Pfaff 7570 to quilt with, I have done a king size on it. This is an embroidery machine, but don't use the embroidery for quilting. I will free motion with it and I just love it. I must tell you an 83 yr old lady taught me the summer before she passed away. I just loved her and she left me with some of her knowledge to free motion on a regular sewing machine.

I have a baby lock on a new joy frame I guess it is a mid-arm machine.

I use my 2 machines, Janome and New Home. do mostly twin size but have quilted 2 quilts that were 80 by 80 on the New Home. Would love a long arm machine except for 2 things, space and money
