Hi everyone, I bought a walking foot - didn't work so well - then bought a darning foot, also called a free motion foot - worked so much better, but I have so much to learn! How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice, practice, practice!!!!!!!!!!! Happy quilting.

Forgot to say, I have a Singer - 37 yrs. old. Made my wedding dress on it. Kept my husband too.:)

I use my regular sewing machine with a walking foot and have done a king size. It can be difficult doing a larger quilt but it can be done. My wish is to get a long arm one day. Try it and it takes practice.

I to quilt on my sewing machine it is a Bernina 410QE with thr BSR foot known as a stitch regulator it is wonderful I do large quilts but in sections I learned the method from Georgia Bonsteels book called Lap Quilting which she did by hand and I did it with my machine

I have a Janome 6600P and I'm determined to learn free motion quilting. I've done a lot of stitch in the ditch and some free motion. I made my three daughter-in-law's lap quilts a year ago last Christmas and free motion quilted them. The third one was better than the first. That's proof that we need to practice a lot.

I do small quilts on my Bernina 440. I have a BSR and that helps but I'm still practicing. I took a class on a long arm and can rent it but still need to practice. I would love to have one some day.

I just use my sewing machines. A bigger quilt is a challenge, but it can be done with a lot of patience and go slower.

I took my first long arm class a week ago.
It was Great !
I finally finished my first quilt.
I much rather "rent" the long arm" @ my local quilt shop.
I'd strongly suggest to others, especially if you wan to "try" before you buy.

I wish I could hand quilt! I love the look of it, and have done a little. I have had a terrible time finding a thimble that fits my finger. So I quilt everything on my Bernina 153. The largest one is probably a full size quilt, maybe close to queen size. But it is hard work wrestling with the weight of a big quilt!
