Ok, the top is ready and the pattern calls for 6 yards of backing. Is that all I buy or do I buy more? I will be giving this to a long arm quilter. I never use patterns and this is the first time so I'm not sure if this 6 yards takes into account the extra for quilting. Help! ASAP! Thanks!

If you are worried you can always buy an extra yard...if you don't need it then it will look pretty in with your stash :D:D:D

That's what I'm going to do. I ordered 14 yards on line because I am doing 2 quilts. Thanks! I started to panic when I read how much! Do I just get what the pattern calls for for the batting?

You will want 4-6 inches of batting and fabric sticking out beyond the quilt top...

I always round up the suggested fabric amount. If I cut wrong I aleady have extra, if I don't need it, it goes into my stash and gets used "someday".

I just cut the fabric for DD latest quilt and found I had two extra yards. My thought is better too much than too little.
