... to receive a newsletter? (From a fabric store.)

You know, the kind that announces sales and new arrivals.

Is once a month not enough? Is every week too often?

What's the right timing, that you actually look forward to the newsletter, rather than tossing it or considering it to be part of "the clutter of life"?

brushandthimble 06-17-2010 12:22 PM

I think once a month or two at the most.

Up North 06-17-2010 12:22 PM

Dang I thought this would be about something else!
I think every two weeks unless they are long. I like reading about new things and having old ideas repeated.

Once a month is good, except maybe occasionally if you had something REALLY special to announce. Weekly would be too often.

athenagwis 06-17-2010 12:28 PM

If it’s an email, I would actually like once a week so long as it includes the new sales or specials of the week (just like any store that has sales flyers), if it’s going to be printed, I think once a month is enough.

If you're announcing sales, once a week is about right   But I like to see all the new stuff too along with everything new in your shop. How often do you get new stuff in or make new samples, etc.? How much time do you have to devote to a newsletter?? :D

Jim's Gem 06-17-2010 12:45 PM

Maybe every 2 weeks or so.

sharon b 06-17-2010 12:54 PM

Email about every two weeks , special announcements as needed  Hard copy maybe monthly or less often, as those are more costly to produce and mail , and I understand that. Plus everything changes rapidly

once a month and if any new products could put out say on the 15th of the month and 30th of the month

that way customers would know to look for the newsletter on the 15th and 30th!

Once a month sounds about right to me. Are you doing email? When we did newsletters years back (before email) the postage was pretty pricey, not to mention the work involved. Either way I'd go once a month. It's less work for you and doesn't look like you're nagging at your customers.

wvdek 06-17-2010 03:23 PM

Once every couple of weeks to once a month. Otherwise, I don't pay much attention to them.

mic-pa 06-17-2010 03:40 PM

the shops around here send them out 4 times a year and include lots of stuff in them.

amma 06-17-2010 03:54 PM

Twice a month...
There is one newsletter I get that is weekly that I really enjoy... but she always includes an interesting story. I really look forward to them :D:D:D

CAROLJ 06-17-2010 05:36 PM

I'd rather get an e-mail once or twice a month.

Rainy Day 06-17-2010 05:37 PM

a fortnightly email is good, announce sales at least a fortnight earlier - so we can save up and have spare cash, and reminders about new products are good - a webclick oooh looky here is also fun.

Boston1954 06-17-2010 05:41 PM

Once a month should do it.

I go To The Sea To Breathe 06-17-2010 06:37 PM

I think once a month toward the end of the month when you are waiting for the first of the months check to come in.

justwannaquilt 06-17-2010 06:49 PM

Depends on if there is coupons or not. lol If I get a flyer alot of times I will check for coupons and if there are none it doesn't interest me much. Sorry I'm cheap. If there are no coupons 9 times out of 10 I won't go shopping, but if there is at LEAST one coupon I will normally walk out with what I had in mind to use my coupon on, and then some!

Moonpi 06-17-2010 07:35 PM

Depends on what's in it - articles, tips, ideas are welcome more often than "buy-buy-buy" newsletters.

littlehud 06-18-2010 07:47 AM

Once a month is plenty for me.
