I just found some fabric I purchased to make curtains for a daughter we were going to adopt. The adoption fell through when the foster parents decided to adopt her. I put the fabric away and "undid" her room (when I was finally able). Over the weekend I was cleaning and discovered the fabric. It's been at least 22 years since the non-adoption. I have older fabric from my mom's stash but this is the oldest that I bought and can still place. Anyone have fabric that you know, for certain, is older?

Side note: the fabric is still beautiful. I'm going to offer to my dil for our adopted grand-daughter. Seems fitting.

I have a small amount of the original 'Holly Hobby' cotton fabric in blue and in pink from the mid 70's left over from some little dresses I made for my very youngest sister. It was SO expensive I kept all the bits left over as I thought one day I would use it in a quilt! It is still waiting!
In a way I am glad I have not used it as back in those days I was not a quilter and I would have made a big mess with it! I now have much better quilting skills and I do intend to use it up, one day soon I hope. It is SO cute!
I am counting on my fingers here, I think it has got to be around 35 yrs old and I bought it from the fabric shop I worked in at the time.

I have a left over from a dress I made in high school, pink pongee with tiny sailboats on it. i won an award for that dress. Someday maybe I'll inhcooperate it into something. I also have hundreds of 2 " sq I hand cut for a quilt for a hope chest while in high school. i've used some of these in a quilt already. just as a reference point, my high school 50 yr reunion was 2 years ago. Who has time to count?

I have some left over from a dress I made myself in 1966. Actually probably more than one of those leftovers.

I have some linen that I "resued" from my mom's house. It belonged to my grandmother who died in 1960. If it was kept out of the sun and doesn't tear easy why not use it?
