I thought of my oldest quilt UFO -- 1998 a tripple Irish chain that uses swaps from the Y2K swaps and the white squares are the signature blocks that came with each swap. It is a king size

-- and after reading some posts, I remembered an embriodered tablecloth -- probably from the 70s -- But I don't really think of that as UFO - just a fill in between projects I want to really do. It may never get finished LOL

about 40...well sort of...i have a quilt top, the top is together. the blocks were ones that my grandma gave me to work on when i was pretty young, hand embroidered...i made about 7 or 8 of them...then grandma moved away and life went on...fast forward 30 years, grandma passed away...months later a small box arrives at my house...found this box of embroidery blocks in the attic...you are the only 'sewer' in the family...do you want them? if not...toss them...opened the box...there they were...those blocks from oh so long ago...including the ones that were not done...fast forward a few more years and my granddaugter is driving me crazy...i want to sew something...so i gave her the blocks that were not done...she finished them over the next couple years...gave them to me and i finally early this year put them all together...and there it sits...folded up (with backing and a batt) under the quilting table...for oh about 6 months now...one of these days i will load it up and finish it! past that one most of my ufo's are less than 5 years old...and only 1 that old. i did pretty good finishing a few this year

About 11 years. Probably will never be done. Well, I guess I could put the already completed blocks together and donate it to our guild.

My DH has a quilt that was given to him this past summer. It was started by his grandmother back in 1897. It has a date on it. I think it is the crazy quilt design and has the chicken tracks sewed into it. It was stored in an old trunk for years and years. There are a few holes in it but I think we have some material that will match to cover them. Being a crazy quilt it will be easy to repair. There was a letter with it saying she made it when she was 17 years old and was in a "finishing school for young girls". I am hopeing to start working on it after the holidays. When finished I will post pictures.

My oldest UFO is also my grandmothers UFO. When I first became interested in quilting my grandma had my mom help her find her UFO from who knows when. That was around 30 years ago. Have no idea when she started it since I never saw her even sew (she lived with us). I guess all that said I'd have to say 30+???
