How to quilt a Labyrinth?

I have no idea how to even begin to think about how this should be quilted. I will be sending it to someone else to quilt but I need some ideas on how to do it. It seems like an all over quilting would not be right for this design but quilting design isn’t something I have any experience in. Thanks for for your suggestions. |
I can't help you on this quilt but it is beautiful..why not do a search on this quilt and see how others have qiuilted it or maybe do a search and see who posted a picture of this quilt. I know I have seen this quilt posted here..good luck what ever you decide it will be beautiful

I think it should all be ditch quilted first, and then consistency in the quilting design is key. For instance, use pebbles in all the light grey, wavy lines in all the dark grey, straight lines in all the black, and leave the narrow white strips free of quilting.

Thank you quiltlady1941. I had forgotten I was going to do a search for other postings. It was very helpful!

Thank you dunster. The picture in the pattern shows the pebbles but not all the light has the pebbles and it is difficult in the pic to see if the dark is quilted at all. I agree with the ditch quilting.

Maybe your long arm quilter will have some good suggestions on the quilting design that would look nice. I know I always ask my long arm quilter for suggestions and she is usually right and comes up with some beautiful and appropriate designs for my quilts.

When I made mine, I stitched in the ditch and then did straight lines on the walls (on diagonal to make the sides all look upright if that makes any sense). My son has the quilt but if I can find a pic I will post it. In retrospect, I think pebbles would have been easier than all that ruler work.

I have seen this quilt done with an E2E and it really looked good. The pattern and contrast stand on their own and the quilter used an all over swirl design done in a light weight thread so you only saw the texture. So don't entirely rule out an E2E panto. Here is a link to one I found with an E2E that is a swirl.
