how to quilt log cabin

Any ideas how to quilt a log cabin. I will be quilting free motion on a sit down long arm not a stand up longarm. I want something different than in the ditch. I may do half the block in stitch in ditch and some design on the other half. There are pieced stars inbetween blocks. Have 2 borders. Any ideas welcome.

Linda Taylor has a free video at her site Quilting School.com. She does the log cabin with feathers in the light because you will see them best, then she does a complimentary feathers in the dark. On the back you will see both flowing along. I personally love the feathers in the log cabin, seems to be fitting to it. Easier than do the ditch work. You can also look at MQResource and they have some photos posted of log cabin quilts people have done. you may have to sign up, but worth it for the photos of how people quilt quilts. Also APQS Forum has photos of log cabins that may be of help to you as well. What pattern is the log cabin? can you post a photo?

I have quilted feathers in a log cabin and that turned out nice. I have a long arm but I quilted them on my domestic at the time. I did one feather in each section of light/dark. ;)
