How to Quilt My Flock?

Another How Do I Quilt This question.....
I'm considering feathers in the black blocks...(Get it...flying geese...feathers?) but have no idea what or even if to do anything in the geese themselves. And then there are all those piano keys... Any ideas? Watson |
Omg that is gorgeous~!!!!!!
I'm great at admiring but not so great at giving quilting ideas :D |
That is gorgeous. Since I love doing FMQ that is probably what I would do.

I might SITD the flying geese and then do a slight continuous curve ( orange peel) in each. Lovely top!

very cool quilt, Watson! google Dawn Cavanaugh on the APQS site--she has design hints for quilting and sure it's her that has a way to quilt working down/up the whole string of FG.

My first thought with the way the flying geese are pieced in an over and under fashion, it might be cool to weave your feathers over and under from one dark block to the next. As far as the geese themselves, some quilting to reinforce their directional procession, straight lines in contrast to your feathers. On your piano keys, I’m leaning toward simple piano key type quilting in sync with the direction of the border piecing. You could add some fill in between, but I thinks simple would be better...as there is already lots going on with your colour gradations.. Just my two cents. Lovely quilt!

I would consider doing the feathers along your borders then doing an all over throughout the whole middle, maybe something that looks like windy clouds.

Your quilt is beautiful!
