How to Quilt This?
1 Attachment(s)
Hello, Fellow Quilters. I am at a loss as to how to quilt this. It is a lap quilt for a friend and I want her to be able to use it without worrying about laundering. I was thinking of an overall design, perhaps orange peel but I am not sure. I will do the quilting myself on my domestic machine and I am up for any suggestions.

I was thinking Baptist Fan would make ripples.

stitch some lines going through the blocks that keep the movement of the wave pattern.

Love your S@S, and I notice you used a different alternate block, as I did. I quilted it with an edge to edge design, about 12" wide, but that was on a longarm, and the recipient loves it.

Your quilt is gorgeous! I'm sure you'll get lots of good advice on quilting it

i myself usually prefer to stitch in the ditch. Find some interesting design to quilt in the diamond and large square. Or you could sew arcs inside the triangles and diamonds from corner to corner. Beautiful fabrics you picked.

I agree with Nativetexan. I think an overall design with some movement, like an large spiral or something with a wave look would be good.
|
Thank you, ladies. You have given me some great ideas. I will post a picture once it is complete.
|
Can't answer your question but I absolutely love your quilt!

I too belong to the "love your gorgeous quilt, however, I don't have any quilting ideas for it" club. Although in looking at it again, I might be tempted to do stitch in the ditch around the larger diamonds that look rounded to make that design stand out better.

Beautiful quilt. No suggestions on quilting other than something with curves or circles.
|
Gorgeous quilt top. I personally like straight line stitching on triangles not curvy. Perhaps alternating straigbt lines at each block so it sews in opposite directions. I just completed a table runner that way. Adding texture.
|
Love your quilt!! Quilting waves would pick up on the blue/sea idea. Am anxious to see the finished job.

How about something associated with the ocean? You could do a search for patterns of sea shells, ships, anchors, and things like that. I did a lap quilt a while back with dolphins all over the main body, and waves in the border.
