How to quilt this?
 

I am undecided how to quilt this and have narrowed it down to 2 possibilities keeping in mind that the recipient is very "old school" and doesn't like modern designs!
Option 1. To fmq within each 12" block with a central and corner daisies and add a smaller daisy at each sashing intersection.
Option 2. To fmq all-over clam/half circles in rows.

Do either of these options seem reasonable? Option 1 would be easier for me as a novice fmq as I would only be working on one block at a time as opposed to option 2 where I would be working the entire width (or length) of the quilt with each row. BUT I think option 2 is more "traditional...quilty-ish?" And if I was to do option 2 which way should I run the clams: along the longer or shorter side? Sorry the photo is a bit washed out and you can't see the small dots and stripes on some of the pieces......it's all sort of flower themed as the recipient loves her garden.

Is there a better pattern I could use?

It's hard to really suggest something as I don't know your comfort level or skill level of machine quilting. It also depends how much time and energy you have to put into it. I think both would be nice. I also think it usually looks best if you can combine more than one pattern or type of quilting.

Ruby, I like both your options (sorry I'm no help!) because you are using more traditional patterns for quilting, as she likes. And the quilt is lovely!!

This was posted earlier and I think it would be would be rather easy to do, perhaps with just wavy lines along the sashing.

I would do an all over FMQ.

I don't know how big your blocks are but I'd suggest a flower design in the center square and then stitch in the ditch so that the "frame" of that center pops a bit--like petals of a flower. Love your colors!

I think your daisy idea is great!

If you feel you are very much a novice, doing one block at a time might be a better experience for you. With each block you will build up your confidence (and experience).

I would stitch in the ditch on both sides of your sashing. Then a large daisy in each block would be very cute. If you don't want to use freemotion, you could easily skip the daisy and continue stitching in the ditch around each central square.
