I'm going to call this Insanity or Extreme Lesson in Patience!

I don't cut straight. I don't sew straight. So what do I try? Right! 1/2" checkerboard to make some leftover cat fabric squares fit this new project! DUH!!!

Well, it was a good learning experience and did make me slow down from my usual full-speed, hair-on-fire kind of sewing! But I know I haven't done as much ripping since Home Ec in high school!

It is not an illusion - it is bigger at the bottom than the top so I will be going back for more ripping and adjusting. Looks like the flash kind of washed out the colors.

As far as the quilting goes: I don't FMQ (yet - still need more practice) but I do OK with the walking foot. All I can think of is to underline the words.

Very, very cute! If it's not off by too much, you may be able to "block" it to size instead of going back to readjust seams. Sharon Schamber has some good videos on Youtube about blocking to size using pins and spray starch.

Too funny - hair on fire, full speed ahead -- you're my kinda gal!

Thanks for the video tip Prism! It is something I need to know!!!

I'm hoping to do more taking in than ripping. We'll see.

Anybody with quilting ideas for me?

Nope, but I like the quilt. we all should pay more attention to what our critters do. It would benefit all of us. Think I'll curl up and take a nap.

Why not just stitch in the ditch around all the squares. I have made countless grandchildren quilts that way and also for our dogs. You'd do fine with your walking foot.

That's so adorable. I love the sayings - wherever did you find that fabric? Good luck straightening it out - I have been putting off squaring a quilt since I have never done it before. Can't be worse than it is now. I chalk it up to being new and self taught, but I vow to learn something new every time (and THAT'S certainly coming to reality, since I make a goodly amount of boo boos).
