How to remove Fray Block
 

I recently used Fray Block, by June Tailor and it is supposed to dry clear. I used it on a dark fabric and of course I didn't check to make sure it dried clear because I have never had any problems.. Well it turned white. and since it is washable and dry cleanable I can't get it off my fabric and I want to enter this quilt in a show.. any suggestions would be welcome.. Thanks.

If you have a piece of the fabric dab it with the Fray Block. Let it dry then dab with a bit of Dawn Ultra dish soap. See if it washes away. I just saw on another site where Dawn Ultra works like Synthrapol. You can try alcohol to see if it will dissolve the Fray Block and not discolor the fabric.

You'd have to try this on some scraps because I don't know the affect it will have on the fabric, but some type of solvent *may* dissolve it. Something like Energene (sp), nail polish remover or paint thinner. However, since it's dry cleanable, solvent may not help.

Most dry cleaners use Naptha which is lighter fluid and it isn't a great remover of dried on glue or paint. I would do as Cashs_mom said and try Acetone based nail polish remover first then move up the ladder of things to try ending with Paint/varnish Stripper which will work but I don't know how your fabric will fare.

I would get some regular acetone...nail polish remover has fragrance etc.

Are there any removal instructions on the label?

I had that same problem. It has been a while, but seems to me that I spot soaked it with a dab of Dawn and warm water and it softened it enough to "scrub" it off with my fingernail. I know I did not use nail polish or other solvent on it.

The quilt was on the quilter. I was afraid to use any kind of solvent... I tried the dawn by dabbing it on. it didn't work. I finally used rubbing alcohol using a cotton swab and just dabbing it a little at a time.. It worked... thanks for all of your suggestions.

Acetone will/ can remove color from the fabric so be sure to test it first if you try this product.
