how to remove ironed-on fusible items?
 

I have inherited several quilt squares that have shapes ironed on to them with some sort of adhesive product. I am guessing that it is a fusible web, as the shapes are slightly stiff and very evenly adhered. I need to remove one of the shapes from each square.

Can anyone suggest a method? I know this is a difficult question since I have no idea which fusible product was used, but is there a solvent that I could try?

I have a few extra squares that I could practice on. If the extras get damaged I wont be overly concerned.

I had a piece that was ironed to the wrong spot once. I just put the iron over it lightly to warm it up and gently pulled it off.

Yes as to Boston's posting, but also.... if you can still see some adhesive, place some scrap fabric on it and iron it... and keep repeating until all the adhesive has adhered to the scrap.

I have never tried this, but since you have a test piece.... I clean adhesive off my iron using glass stove top cleaner (no heat). I wonder if you saturate the piece and do some rubbing maybe it would come off? Just a possibility.

I once fused something wrong and had to get it off immediately because it was on a cross stitch done by my daughter. My husband got the HAIRDRYER and together we were able to slowly peal it off. Good luck.

You can use an iron and a dryer sheet and extra fusing will come off easily

I did try the method suggested by Boston1954 and it worked beautifully. Piece removed, and replaced. Boom, done. Thank you, everyone!
