How to Remove Quilt Adhesive from Wood Surfaces
 

I saw this on a blog and didn't save or print it! I would like to know how to remove quilt adhesive (Sullivan's) from wood surfaces without ruining the wood? Thank you for your help.

Use Goo Gone. It works.

What about using De-Solve it? Not sure if this would ruin the wood tho'

I checked my container of De-Solve, it does say safe for wood but I'd definitely test it first.

For home remedies, peanut butter can be rubbed on sticky things (like price tag adhesive) to get it out. The oil may show the wood surface needs a treatment but shouldn't hurt it.

Likewise, you might try some wax furniture polish, don't know about things like Endust. I was looking up hints and found it suggested to make tacky paint on a plastic surface dry. It did work (not right away but eventually) and now I have a mostly full bottle in my supplies of stuff as well as a non-tacky plastic mask.

Pledge furniture spray works on the 505 residue.

I use goo be gone all the time and no damage to the wood.If anything is will leave a bit of a shine. Rinses off easily. Great for a lot of other things too.

Goo Gone stinks and the smell lingers. I can't stand it. I use a product called UnDu. It's excellent to remove anything sticky or stuck. It is used to remove old photos stuck to glass frames. Non toxic and has never harmed anything I have used it on.

Furniture polish works; may need a little elbow grease.

I would test an inconspicuous spot first with whatever you use. I would be inclined to try something like a furniture polish first.

Be very careful with adhesives and spray starches around wood furniture. Best Press ate the finish off a very nice Shaker table I had set the bottle down on, ruining the top. I won't ever use Best Press again.
