How should I quilt this runner?
1 Attachment(s)
This is my first time making a log cabin pattern. The whole runner is 16x40 inches and each of the "logs" in the cabin in only 1/2 inch wide. I'm not sure how I should quilt this creation. I can do a tiny bit of FMQ and have a walking foot. Would it look ok if I did straight stitches across the diagonal (through the center square), stitch in the ditch around each "cabin", both options together, or...? I'm just not sure. Oh, and I was thinking of a taupy brown to use as thread color - it is about the same tone as the second to darkest of the light blocks. I would appreciate any help and suggestions. I want to be able to have this little runner completed by the end of the day tomorrow. I normally hand quilt, but want to do this with the machine. Thanks!

Wow, that is stunning, but I will leave the "how to's" to the experts.......I just love your color choices..

I have seen quilting in the ditch, down the center of the strips, all over designs unrelated to blocks like a shell, bishop's fan, maybe a maple leaf. I did one using a spiderweb pattern I had using some gold thread. It was fun and I liked the finished product.
