How should I quilt this?
1 Attachment(s)
I just finished this quilt top, using Y seams for the first time (I know, the points are no where near perfect ). Now I need some advice on how to quilt it. I think I will use variegated blue thread, but I can't figure out how to quilt it. I have a sweet 16, but my skills are still not that great, so I can't do anything too complicated. Thanks for your advice! I hope the picture shows up.

Don't have a suggestion for quilting it but that top is wonderful! Great job!

It is lovely. Really !!! I"m thinking straight stitching 1/4 inch from all seams. Go across next to seams, then down, etc. It would look great. Good going.

I think I might SITD in a stair step manner down the pattern. Make sure to change direction every other line of stitching so it doesn't pull the top out of square. Super top and I don't see any mistakes!

Beautiful! I love your color choices. I'm not proficient at quilting but I think a zig-zag would look good or even stitch in the ditch.

your top is beautiful. since the shapes are the same [hexie] as the one block wonder, maybe these suggestions from buzzinbumble from some time ago will be helpful.

I agree with Tartan. SITD in the pattern of the stairs in both directions.. Nicely done and great fabric color selection.

Can you use pantographs with your sweet sixteen? The panto that comes to my mind for this one is spiral squares. When quilted it takes on an interesting diamond shape but would not distract from the quilt itself. I am a professional long arm quilter and of the opinion that the quilting should enhance the quilt but the quilting itself should not be the first thing you see when looking at the quilt, or in other words, detract from the piecing and colors in the quilt.

You could use 3 layers of batting & that would make the blocks really stand out! Wonderful quilt & colors are Awesome!
