I'm about to get out my hot glue gun and zap the bottom of my foot pedal to keep it from sliding all over! I have tried that rubber stuff you can set wet dishes on...and, it doesn't stop it. I think it is the angle I actually push the pedal with(not sure) and the little boxes I have seen for over $20 at Clotilde look like they actually raise up the pedal-higher then it is now. What do you do??! My toes are tired of searching as I sit in position and ready to put on the gas...and, where's the darn foot pedal?!LOL Skeat

I got those little thingies that are used to to set glass table tops on. I got the idea from our television stand, the top is glass and it sits on little rubbery thingies on the base of the stand.

I bought some and put two on my machine foot and it doesn't move now. :) Sorry, I don't know what they are called, so they are 'thingies' to me. LOL

Hot glue gun sounds like a solution to me!!LOL

I have carpet, so I put a little piece of Velcro down, the rough side.

I will go to the hardware store and ask for 'thingies'LOL That sounds like a good idea...not having glass (they don't trust me!)I would have never thought of that....Thanks! SKeat

What about those things you put on the bottom of your tub so you don't slip in the bath ? Put that on the bottom of the pedal ? Just a thought since you are on cement.

I use the fabric that you put on the feet of baby's pyjamas so that they don't slip. It works great for me.

I have non-skid pad under my pedal. It is ribbed to hold the pedal and is large enough for a clear plastic "lift" that I rest my left foot on when I sew. It helps even out the hips.

Someone (one the "main" forum) said they found round circles of that rubbery, squishy shelf-liner stuff at a dollar store ??? It fit right under her foot pedal and kept it in place.

Everyone has such great ideas! I think I am going to have to try that rubber mat of carpet...I think my prob is there is a shine finish on my concrete...which makes the sliiiiiide go easily:)I have actually one of those round rubber jar openers under it. It is just like that rubber you use to set wet dishes on. Still slides! You should see all my activity to try pulling it back to place while holding my fabric in place to sew!LOL Now, I don't have any of those rubber backed rugs here....I think my mom has one in her guest bathroom.....you think she'd miss a piece?LOL I'd just remind her that the last guests could have taken towels like so many others....who knew they wanted a piece of her rug:)LOL Skeat

I am so glad someone brought up this topic. We have spanish tile floors and between the pedal slipping away and the pussycats pushing it, well, you can imagine the circus!

The hot glue sounds like it may work on little paws - ha ha ha ha

You can get this rubber stop stuff you can use to layer the bottoms of cupboards and drawers. I get it at Walmart. It's fabulous! I also have a piece cut to the size of my bread machine. When the machine is moving it can easily slide off the counter. This stuff works great! I use to have hardwood floors at Mum's place and Trevor's condo and so that rubber lining worked like a charm. At the moment my new sewing room has industrial carpet.. (that will be removed as soon as possible... laminate flooring will replace it and so much easier to keep clean). I will use that rubber lining again then

for your floors I am not sure! The other answers sounds good!! DH (I have wood flooring) nailed a block of wood in front of the pedal...now it can't go but so far!

:roll: Would you believe I purchased one of those matts that is suppose to keep your pedal in place. Worked great because it has fuzzy carpet like center & came with velcro hook strip to put on the bottom of your pedal. Now I got this so when I took my machine to quilt group I would not have to chase it across the tile floor. Problem is the carpet area, the glue is letting go so while it is in the trolley case it & the foot slide side ways exposing sticky glue which is beginning to get outside the intended area. I keep readjusting it but it just moves again. Think googone would get rid of the glue? Or if I put another kind of glue under it, that the carpet/pedal would stay in place. I don't take the pedal loose because the velcro is so strong it just wants to pull the carpet up too. :shock: :lol:

Just an idea Skeat, how about one of those Mouse Pads you use for the computer stuck to the underside, mine doesn´t seem to need one don´t no why, will have to look at the bottom of it.

Its got rubber feet ha ha, thats why.

I have a wood floor. I cut a rubber bath mat ( with suction cups) just a little larger than my foot controler and glued the controler to the mat. It seems to be working so far. This is also great for going to classes where they have tile floors.

The other concept you are dealing with is what was mentioned slightly early on ... the angle that the foot pedal sits on the floor.
I do not put my whole foot on the pedal (sometimes, I can be such a priss!) ... and, the pedal just scoots out of the way because of the angle of my foot.
To keep the pedal from sliding, not only do you want to put that rubber stuff on your floor, you need to tip the pedal up on the away side in order to more evenly distribute the pressure you are putting on it.
And, yes ... googone should take your glue off (forget who asked that question)
back to the angle thing ... in order to put the pedal at an angle that works in your favor, you want to lift the away side up to an inch or more off the floor ... it will tip the weight of the pedal back toward you, giving you more leverage over the slide.
If you have a piece of wood lying around, glue your non skid stuff to the wood, then put the wood down, with the pedal leaning back toward yourself ... it might take some fiddling to get the angle correct in order to use the pedal ... I have one machine where the foot pedal weighs a ton, is the same size as the ones you all probably have ... and the "GO" button (I kid you not!) isn't even a half of the size of the width of the pedal ... and the silly thing STILL slides ...

i use that rubber stuff that goes in cabinets. works like a charm! just put that on the floor, and the foot on top and it doesn't move.

How about double sided sticky tape? You could tape a little strip of wood or plastic to the floor and let the pedal run up to it. At first I thought constuction adhesive, but that might be a little hard to remove if you needed to move the little stop strip!! Or the adhesive velcro..stick one side to the floor and the other to the pedal?? If you're really a lead foot, stick several pieces down :lol: :lol:

If your table is against the wall, put a piece of plywood or even a book against the wall but lying on the floor to run the front edge of your pedal up to.

That! is a clever solution! Good job!
I knew I was a woman fully growed a couple of weeks ago, when I had to go buy some of that double sided carpet tape. My mom has even used that with throw rugs on carpet, and by golly! That stuff HOLDS!

I have an older machine, but under the cabinet, there is a hook and guides that will allow me to put the fedal into the slide and use my knee to run the machine. If I get tired, I can change it back, on a mouse pad, but the knee works well once you get used to it.
