Nothing to fall out of love with there....it's very pretty. I have a long term (years) GFG project..which is nearing the joining up phase. I work on it in the evenings and sometimes take it along when I have an appointment with a long wait. Persevere. GFG look stunning when quilted....I think that's when they come "alive". So don't give up on it.

I think it is beautiful. Don't give up. I struggled with connecting my flowers the first couple rows, then I got the hang of it and it goes pretty quick. I have been attaching each flower as I finish making a row of flowers. I wouldn't try doing it in sections, I think it would really be unwieldy. Just keep plugging away one flower at a time. Just think how much you have put into it, and you are almost done.

My second one is all folded up by my chair, waiting for attention. It is nearly finished but I just needed a break and to work on something else for a while!

Make it a P.I.G.S. for now....I am seeing (I think) what you are seeing......All else fails, you could make a table runner, potholders, a trivet or....... I have a 3/4 finished top on my planning board which I look at several times a day and can not get back to it....I really should box it up and just start a fresh new project, instead of not sewing at all because I have fallen out of love.

It looks great to me - orange used to be my least favorite color but I find myself really liking it lately! Maybe a break is all you need - come back to it with fresh eyes and I bet it'll look more beautiful to you, too. :)

I'm going to be the wet blanket and agree with you. Your work is super but it seems, JMHO, something is needed. Would you consider adding little 4-hexagon diamonds at the intersections of the blocks? Perhaps in greens.

I also agree with the folks who advise setting it aside for awhile---

Here is a photo with the setting diamonds I had planned on. I liked the gray because when I laid the flowers on it it seemed to tone down the too bright fabrics and give a little oomph to the lighter ones. Keep in mind this isn't natural light, but you get the idea.

If your fabrics in your flowers have bright white in them, like the pink & white check...they are most likely fighting the gray you chose for your background. Your flowers are bright pure tones of color, the background color is more muted (greyed). a solid pastel color for your background might make you like it better. If you like the gray best, remember that the quilting thread will be another opportunity to get the top to be cohesive. A varigated quilting thread color can liven up the gray and still relate back to the flower colors. Love your flower color choices.

Sometimes working on a project so long we just need a break. Maybe work on something small and then you will be ready to tackle your GFG again.

Color lady is right. The gray is fighting with the clear colors. I made my husband look at it and after hemming and hawing I said I don't like it and I wanted his honest opinion. Solution....the gray has to go. Me and my seam ripper are about to get real close. There are 780 gray path pieces to unsew. On the brightside. I have the path all done for my next GFG.
