How would you quilt this one?

Not the greatest photos ... it's plopped on my cutting table. The backing is black. I have white thread in the bobbin. Quilting on a DSM. The tumblers are done SITD. How would you quilt the black color blocks? The widest is at the top, and there are two others, each diminishing in width. And would you use black or white thread? I'm hesitant to FMQ since it's heavy and my wrists and arms are giving out from shoveling snow. And the binding ... black? White?

I love crosshatching but never crosshatch a wedge before. Might suggest a diagonal line from one corner to the opposite corner of the wedge forming an "X" in the center of the wedge when both directions of the diagonal lines have been stitched.

ManiacQuilter2, I think I might try do do that. Still staring at it, but staring won't get it done.

That is going to be stunning! I'm thinking 'ghost' tumblers, where you would quilt tumblers in the solid black areas. White would be too stark a thread color, but if you had a charcoal grey, that would add some interest.

I agree with PP. I would "ghost" the tumbler shape in a dark colored thread on the black fabric. You could also use black thread but it is really hard to see. I like PP idea of a charcoal grey. It would look very cool and modern.

All sounds good to me!!

I'm marking with chalk. This is going to be really great or really, really awful. Fingers crossed.

I too would use a medium to dark gray thread. I'm not sure of what design tho.

It's done! Putting it into the wash. But I'm scared.

What is the worst that can happen? Hope you post a pic!
