How would you quilt....
 

I have only done stitch in the ditch so far. I've taken Craftsy classes on quilting and can do the stitching with the walking foot but that would be so hard with this queen sized quilt with all the turning and twisting. I'm practicing my FMQ but don't feel I'm ready yet.
Aside from that, I'm thinking of quilting triangles on the colored parts around the coffee cups with coordinating colored thread (which means a lot of changing out of threads!)
The backing is turquois with brown coffee beans and I've stitched the black "sashing" in a turquois colored thread. Shall I do the rest in same or different colors?

Love your quilt! What I would do is outline stitch in black each long row from side to side and then the up and down edges of the largest individual blocks (each block has 3 boxes, I mean the largest of each), and lastly, outline stitch the smallest block (the coffee cup blocks), so that it holds up without the batting bunching up inside over the years. By sewing it that way it keeps the focus on your quilt rather than your quilting. It would drive me nuts to change out the threads that often, and black is a unifying color in the quilt anyway. Please post what you end up doing - can't wait to see the finished product, whichever way you go! It's a 'happy' quilt!

hmmmm, you could do some diagonal lines. I would go from one corner or near the corner through the center of the quilt and through the center of the blocks. then another line on one side of that line maybe one inch or two away and continue taht way up to or down to a corner. then turn your quilt and make one straight line from the center or near that through the blocks down to the opposite corner and fill in on either side of that to the edges of the quilt. I wish i could fine a good photo of one i did that way but can't right now. looks good. gives a lot of interest and fills the quilt with stitching needed.sort of like this but without the lines going bottom left to upper right on the lower half of the quilt and the upper half not having the crossing lines either.http://www.quilting-tidbits.com/imag...gDesigns10.jpg

I think I'd do straight tilted lines in the opposite directions of the block.

I'd like to see the cups outlined so they would show on the back. If I were using a domestic sewing machine I'd baste the rows and columns to keep all in place. The do each cup,and maybe saucer too. Then I'd do either a curving or straight line all over pattern around the rest of the areas. To decide which quilting to do I'd probably draw a representative few blocks on drawing paper and place a plastic protector over it, then draw on the plastic with wipe off pens. Or, I would copy the representative blocks and just draw on t hose. Then I could decide which I like. ali
