Such wonderful suggestions coming from my QB friends! Yes I do struggle with the idea of separating them...but then again, how wonderful would it be for the 3 granddaughters (of my neighbor) to each receive something their great-grandmother made. I also spent the day yesterday on Ancestry pulling together a huge amount of info about that great grandma's family and her ancestors that I will add to the gift(s) when I return the completed project.
All of your suggestions have been excellent. I will continue to consider and play with the different suggestions until one speaks to me. :-) |

I should have also asked....should I cut them square or leave as rectangle? I thought it was interesting that they were 11x17 rather than square....
Cogito.....These are such a treasure....all the very best of luck with whatever you decide - i'm sure she will be thrilled - i certainly would be. |

My neighbor gave me these blocks several years ago after her mother (age 93) passed away. I would like to put them together into a top and present them back to my neighbor who does not sew. There are 12 blocks each approx. 11x17 with plenty of room to trim down to ensure consistent sized blocks. Each one is different and her work is quite nice! These were pre-printed as I can still see the printed design in some areas. They were sewn on nice weight muslin. Obviously there are not enough to make something to fit on a bed. I would like to either make a wall hanging or to drape on a chair, etc. she loves decorating her home for different holidays, etc. any suggestions appreciated.

My MIL made a quilt for each of her 8 children and couldn't finish them before she died. I finished my DH's quilt for her. He is the youngest child. She candlewicked the blocks too. This is how she put them all together. It is a cell phone picture so keep that in mind but she added 2 to 3 inch wide lace between the blocks. The quilts were all hand quilted. They are beautiful in all ivory.
