Hi fellow quilters, I would like to make blocks rectangular , which when I line them all up will look like buildings, does anyone know how I would go about it? If so could they point me in the right direction with how to cut them? please.

you want to make blocks to look like houses and buildings?

I have no idea how to do this, but I think it is a great idea. I will be watching here to see how to do it so I can do it too!

Yes craftybear, want to make a strip of blocks which will look like buildings. Have you ever seen the promo for Chicago? Well if you go to this link http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0299658/ you will see what looks like buildings at the bottom. I want to replicate this in a block I have in mind for a wall hanging but am not sure how to go about it.
Thank you Maybe1day |
Something like this?
http://artquiltreviews.files.wordpre...-5_2.jpg?w=450 I think you would have to draw it on paper and then do paper-piecing. |
If I understand what you want you would have to start every other row with the rectangle cut in half. The link did not work for me.

EasyPeezy, yes it is something like that, I am sorry the link didn't work for the Chicago promo on Google. Such a shame but still what you posted is close to what I am wanting just not with those windows in it. The fabric I have in mind to use has a self embossed wash over it which I think will look like the buildings have dark glass in them, if I can get the blocks to look like buildings.

I would sew the rectangle building pieces to the back ground strips the same width.
Just stagger the strips to simulate the different heights of the buildings. You could piece the very tops of the buildings (in a square block at the top) to change each ones shape a bit. :D:D:D |
