How would you use this panel?

My panel actually has three rows of birds rather than the two pictured above. The fabric is Nest by Valorie Wells. Do you think it would be okay to maybe just add a border and quilt it to use as a baby quilt? Or would you cut out the individual birdie motifs and use in some other way? All suggestions appreciated. I really could use a quick baby quilt.

Pretty! I would probably cut them - but that's just because the three like birds lined up in a row would bug me. :) There would be nothing wrong with adding a border and quilt it! Do what makes you happiest!

I think it would be fine to just add a border. I know sometimes with panels, the blocks aren't actually all square, meaning they aren't all the same size. You wouldn't think they can vary, but they do. It can make it, uhm, challenging to try to piece it back together again.

Let us know what you decide.

Thanks, y'all! I'm pretty sure I'll just quilt it the way it is. I guess I just needed validation.

I would just put a border around the panel. If you look real close if you cut the blocks apart you will cut off some of the branches. but it's yours so do as you feel you like best.

I would cut them evenly between the blocks, not on the yellow lines and add a striped sashing with nine patch cornerstones.

I wonder how it would look with Attic Windows?

Have any of you seen the free pattern, for an indoor sleeping bag, made from panels. They are about 601/2 x 281/2
So would be for smaller children. My sister cares for triplets, they are 4 yrs old and she made them all one, so very cute, and very easy to make. Pattern is called Happy Campers by Southsea Imports. Project sheet...Q550-109-550
This project sheet also includes patterns for Tabletopper (picnic quilt), a pillow, and an overnight bag. I love that it uses a panel, you can get such cute panels!

That is just what I was thinking...I think it would look great!

It would be very nice quilted as it is. I notice that in order to separate them, you would be cutting a little of the branches off. Now that would just bug me but that's just me. Some of the new panels are so pretty, I find it hard to improve on them and leave them whole.
