I purchased this machine last week. Sorry if there is another thread on this ,couln't find it . has anyone else had a loud noise when you sew through 3 or more layer. Singer says to take it to dealer or send back to HSN. Please help.

New Singer machines do not have a good reputation. I would send it back, get a refund of your money if possible, and buy a different machine -- preferably locally. Sears Kenmore machines have an excellent reputation nowadays.

I have the Quantum L-500. I don't hear a noise. Are you using the original needle? Maybe the needle is dull--try changing it. Also, check out your bobbin case to see if it needs cleaning.
I've used Singers all my life and haven't had a problem. Singer's have gotten a rep over the years but I think it's because the folks that have had problems speak louder than the ones that have not. |

If now is your only opportunity to send it back, you may want to do that. Kenmore machines are either Janome or Elna, both excellent quality machines. Good luck on your decision. |
I ordered the L-500 from HSN and sent it back soon after. She was noisy, clunky, and the stitches were uneven. To be honest, I was very disappointed and sad because it combined the best features of the Janome 6600 and the Babylock Quest. Oh well! There was a huge difference in my machine compared to the one they feature in the video.

Unfortunately, Singer does not produce quality machines like they use to. I would never buy a new one. If you can send it back, that's what I'd do, and get your money back.
I have a friend that buys nothing but Kenmore's and loves them. They are made by Janome and has everything that a Janome does...except the price. Good luck :) |
I had singer sewing machine for about twenty years - but the gears were made with plastic parts and constantly at the repair shop - I now have a Brothers and Baby Lock Pro Choice which I love
