HST project ideas needed

1 Attachment(s)
I have these HST - a friend donated the triangles to me quite awhile ago, they were cut offs from a flying geese wallhanging she made. The only condition was that I "do something" with them!
I immediately sewed them into HST and promptly got stumped for ideas. Searching images does nothing to help me figure out what I would like to do.
They measure 1 3/4 inches square, and I have 249 of one and 250 of the other pattern.
I do have a couple fat quarters of black/gold fabric but I am unable to match either/any of the fabrics in the HST.
Ideas please quilters?

How about mini carpenter stars

I made a mini quilt with very similar fabric. Look at the third quilt for an idea. http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...t-t184211.html

The same thing happened to me. A lady at my quilt group gave me a bag of triangles and I wanted to find something to do with all the HSTs I made from them. I ended up with this:

I saw the varieties of ways to do 16 patches with HSTs on Pinterest. Any one of these blocks by itself would make a great quilt.

Here are some more ideas for you:

Mine were much bigger than yours but this was a fun layout.

Dear Quilters - THANK YOU ! I love these specific vs general ideas.... now to decide!

Wow. What a gift! I don't like to work with HST (unless 4.5" +).. I've made a lot of small ones in the past but sold them....

Because they are so small, if you build them into blocks it will make two mini quilts about 18" square, plus sashing. If you use them together then 25" square, plus sashing. I would use them in a border instead to spread the effect out more. If you make a pinwheel border and alternate fabric types, you can get over 300 linear inches of border.

I had a shoebox full of HST's( in assorted sizes) left from a quilt. I just couldn't make myself throw them out, so I put a a piece of batting for a design wall and started playing. I ended up with something similar to Maniac Quilter's photo with some of the HST's and tried out different designs with other sizes. I sewed each group together into block units, and will eventually join them together in a gypsy wife style quilt. (Once I've finished the Gypsy Wife quilt along and have some experience joining the non-uniform shapes.)
