That was very kind of you to make him a quilt. I wish him all the best in his treatment and recovery.

Very well said. If you do something and expect something back it is no longer a gift.

A Man, It takes all kinds of people to make this world some Great people and some NOT so gratefull.I am sure they will treasure this quilt for ever.

I've always received thanks for any charitable work I do. It just makes me want to do more. For situations like the above, just the fact that they were touched and appreciative of the gift is enough. When you spend time making something to help an organization or event, I think a thank you is in order, but I guess I'm old-fashioned.

Thank you for your kindness, touches the heart.A gift is just that a gift. Giving makes us feel good the thank you is an extra.
Shame on those that receive and give back nothing but this is something we don't know did they really give back nothing?

Sounds to me like you got the best "Thank You" anyone could hope for.

pollym44 03-07-2011 07:34 AM

If the only reason someone makes and give quilts is to get showered with praise and "thank you's", then they would be better not made. I have never heard "thanks" or seen the faces of the children in hospitals who received quilts I made, or the seniors who got lap throws or the people burying babies who got the "silent layettes". I won't get to see the children who will get the "abused quilts", but somebody is gonna smile and feel loved, and it's enough for me just knowing I did something that , for a moment, made someone else feel good and forget about their ordeal. That's enough for me. You're two cents sounds more like a million to me. Keep up the good work and ALWAYS listen to the "quilt Gods". Blessings!!
