I am good at the needle arts. Embroidery, crewel, counted x, crochet (I can make lace), sewing clothing, all my plaids & stripes match up.
I am an excellent photographer, from back in the day before point & shoot, focus, f stops, etc! I am quite a good artist-watercolor, pastel, oil pastel, pencil, charcoal. My papercrafting is great, too, scrapbooking & card-making. My beading is quite pretty. NONE of this translates into being a "good quilter". My seams are 1/4". But if I move past something that doesn't matter, beyond rails or log cabin, or pinwheels...it doesn't match up. The humility is good for me, I think. *sigh* |
I hear you. I often use a pattern that seams and 1/4" are not so important:)
lol, you have a great attitude, and I have no doubt you will one day be a great quilter. Time and practice ;-)
Though I suspect you are being a little hard on yourself. |
Practice, practice, practice!!! I'm still working on them!!!
Stick with it ,you will improve.
yes, humility is a great lesson in life
Just a little bit of guidance is all you need.
some little tricks that only come from learning from a quilting friend. You will get that here for sure.. just post your project, progress and problems.. you will get all the help you can manage |
You will probably get better with practice.
Humility is good for all of us (I guess!). You'll get the hang of it.
I do the quilting for the love of it...I agree it doesn't have to be perfect...it just has to be.
I'm guessing you weren't really good at all the other crafts in the beginning either...so stick with it. A little more practice is all you need.

I read an article that said quarter inch is not the important bit, its having the seams consistent throughout the quilt that matters. So, if you make a mistake, make sure you make the same mistake on each block!!
It sounds to me like you are already a treasure!! Wow, if I could do half that stuff. Of course, I can't really quilt either. :)
