Hungarian Embroidery Patterns

Interested in doing a quilt using Hungarian Matyo or Kalocsa embroidery patterns. Can anybody give me a resource for free (preferably) patterns which I could convert for applique?

This was easy to find, I just googled the names. You can click on the titles at the top and go to different pages

Just found this one. No sure if they are what you want, but if you click on any design, it takes you to a page where you can download a pdf.

i love hungarian embroidery. have never done any, just read articles on it's history & current usage in "Piecework" magazine. so, i did an image search and there are lots & lots from pinterest pages, but also a few from blogs & websites dedicated to hungarian, etc embroidery. this one has a free pattern plus patterns for sale. good luck & hope you post images of your applique project ..in progress & finished. i think you've got such a great idea ..would love to copy you, but first i need to follow through on my long time desire to turn some of my old jacobean needlepoint & crewel patterns into applique patterns.

My Mum in Law was Hungarian and I love all the Hungarian designs. Thank you for starting this interesting thread.

I am Hungarian on my moms side, and I have painted plates and some needlework pieces. If you would like, I could take some pictures of my pieces for you. We are from Mezokovsed, which is northeast of Budapest.

Yes please, I would love to see them ! My Mum in law came from Kophaza ( near Sopron ) not far from the Austrian border. A long way from Budapest - but we did visit there and lake Boloton.

Here are some pictures, the plates are hanging very high up on a wall so they were hard to photograph. The first is a piece that my aunt did that my mom had framed for me:

This is a traditional flower of the area:

They are so beautiful and colorful and I love having them in my home. Enjoy!
