I just got a text message that my DH got a deer this morning. I have been toying with ideas for a quilt for him for xmas. Those of you that have made for hunting hubbies or others, can we see them?? I do have some scenic fabric already, but not totally committed to it yet. Thanks.

This one I made for my son used VIP material w/wolves-n-bears panels and used borders around sides (is BIG on his twin bed but hoped would fit bigger bed when he moved out is 22) I've used the deer panel ones but were gifts can't find those pictures.

This is w/big panel but have them w/deer

I just bought two deer panels off eBay. One is a snowy scene and the other a fall scene. Both are beautiful! I'm making a deer quilt for my Daddy who lives in East Tennessee. I just need to finalize my decision as to which one I will use! :? I've been pondering the idea of using one on each side.

bjr: that quilt is awesome! Love seeing a quilt that focuses on deer, but NOT on hunting :)

bjr 11-14-2010 07:00 PM

Thank you. I made a quilt for each of my 5 siblings (all king or queen), and this was my favorite one.

Such wonderful quilts!

I have been buying camouflage and other hunting style fabric for a quilt for my brother who is an avid hunter, will probably do a d9p for next year. This is my first year quilting, so parents get one first, then will try to squeeze one out really quick for my ungrateful ingrate (just kidding) of a son and his girlfriend. I like the D9P but haven't tried to make one yet - the directions look really simple though.

I love animal quilts. I've made several horse lap tops. My latest has wild animal appliqued faces and I have 2 more sets to do yet. Mine are so much simple than yours which are gorgeous.

This is a duck themed quilt top. It as been quilted and will be sitting under the Christmas tree soon. I think men get neglected in our quilting projects. The quilt tops don't have to be elaborate or complicated. Keep it simple.
