I have found some very pretty and good quality fabric at WalMart but also have found some that I left at store but that is same anywhere I have shopped. I could only make one quilt a year if I brought all the fabric at Quilt shops

I was at our WalMart today and saw some very nice fabric, some pretty nice quality cottons. I asked the clerk who the fabric buyer was, and she said that she and another clerk had a lot of say in what fabrics the store would purchase. I wonder if this accounts for some of the differences among the WMs? Personally, I do purchase fabric at WM if what I'm making isn't going to be an "heirloom" or something special. I buy the best I can afford for the project I intend to make.

I heard WM is coming to SA .... I hope they have fabric ..... our quilt-shops can do with some competition .... quilt-fabric here starts at R120 per meter!

My walmart doesn't carry fabric anymore but they carry... fat quarters, cut yards, charm packs and jelly rolls in about 20 different coordinating patterns in both cotton and flannels. No bolts of material, just all precuts. Quality is not to bad, not the best, but not the worse either.

Yep, I do the same. I have used Walmart fabric and nothing else. It works fine for me and my quilts have looked great...except for my quilting that is, still working on that. LOL
