Husqvarna Ruby Royale - questions

I am considering a purchase of the Ruby Royale. I reviewed the threads on the forum for opinions etc but there doesn't seem to be anything recent.
Any concerns I should be aware of? Any bad experiences with the more recent models?
Please let me know.

must be fairly new? I didn't find any customer reviews anywhere (but the reviews for the diamond were pretty sad)
but this place reviews most models when they come out. Maybe there is some info on features here you hadn't thought about?

My best advice about any new to you machine is take your own fabric and sew some of the things YOU sew.
that stiff stuff they use to show stitches at most shops is stiffened and everything looks great on that :)

I don't have that model Viking. Mine is a 10 + yr old Platinum model. I love it. Have not had one hour's worth of trouble with it at all. Love the auto tension system. I have sewn sheer curtain fabric to boat cover canvas and never touched a setting. And then go back to quilting cotton.

I do agree with KalamaQuilts...take your own fabric along with a quilt sandwich sample if you do machine quilting or even just to test for sewing on bindings. If you do other types of sewing besides quilting, take some of those samples as well.

My friend had it and said it was a hunk of junk. She did not elaborate but she got rid of it and bought a Bernina.

I had the Ruby and traded it in for the Diamond Deluxe, there wasn't anything wrong with the Ruby, it was great. The Diamond just did more and had a bigger hoop. The Royale at the shop I go to has a great rep and has bigger hoops and more features than the first one that I had. I'd buy another one in a second. Both machines aren't picky about thread, self adjusting tensions, I've never had to change my tension sewing or emb and they are very easy to learn.

I bought it, it will come from the warehouse and be in next week.
