Husqvarna Viking 210 question

A friend's grandma just passed away and her grandpa is wanting to sell her Husqvarna Viking 210 (Sew Easy) sewing machine and needs some idea of value. (I'm a Bernina person and can't help with this brand.) She says her grandma bought it in 1996 and looks unused. Anyone have any ideas about value on this machine?

Go to ebay and check closed auctions for this machine. IMO ebay prices tend to be a bit higher than what you'd expect to sell via Craigs List, but it should give you an idea.

I did a search on ebay and didn't think about doing that. Thanks.

I found only one listed in the auctions ended section. With shipping, it sold for $180. Wish there had been more than one example. Still interested if anyone knows this machine?

call a local Viking dealer & ask---they will sometimes even purchase them- you could check their website too- I don't know if Viking has it or not but singers will actually tell you the value of used machines right on their website- Viking may too...my dealer is really great, I've called & told them- I just came across this machine & was wondering what they cost used...since they take in (trade-ins) they may even have one in the store that you could ask how much they are selling it for....would give you an idea- or you can do a search to see what they are going for now & make a fair 'guestimate'

This ad in Canada (which is usually more expensive than the US prices) http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-s...AdIdZ487192990
If that was all they would get for their machine I wonder if there is a charity near them they could donate to & get a tax receipt?

I paid $300 for it brand new in 1996. Still works like a charm.

I called about my 330 and was told by Viking it had a book value of $250. I probably wouldn't get that for it and your is older. They will tell you if you call them and that should give you some idea. Those are workhorse machines and well worth the money for a first time sewer. Because it's mechanical and not computerized the market is more limited to those wanting those kinds of machine. I kept mine for a back up to my back up machine. I would say somewhere in the $175 - $200 range.
