I wanted to do a pieced border and use up all so no scraps.Yipee I did it but what do I do in the corners so I break up the rust color
was thinking this pp with the green and rust or too busy? Gae |
I think that pattern might be too busy, and not in keeping with the piecing pattern in the rest of the quilt. I would just go with a 4 patch (the green from the stop border and the rust) or a sawtooth star.
I think I would go with a simpler block. 4 patch, 9 patch, pinwheels, bear paw etc. Love the colors and pattern you have chosen.
Yes, I was thinking the same, maybe a 4 or 9 patch.
I think a 4 patch it will be! although they won`t be sqas need and odd mesaurent. Will have to pay with it.
Thanks Gale |
I would just continue the pattern you used in the border.
If you don't like that idea ... how about a square in a square? |
I would just put a square of the blue print that was used in the quilt center.
I agree, something with simple lines and not small pieces. It's going to be a beautiful quilt.

Yep, that 4 patch is prefect!!!
Very cute. I was thinking why not do the paperpiece pattern....but this is fantastic!
Perfect! Love the 4 patch corners.

If you have some left, put some of the green inner border in the corners.
It's a cute quilt, by the way! |
It looks great! You chose wisely!!

Nice job. Thanks for posting the final decision.
Your final decision is exactly what the quilt needed! The four-patches make the corners come alive, and they point to the center, sort of like Vanna points to the vowels.
The four patch corners look like a really good idea, but I would make them with with blue print, NOT the green. Having the green in those 4-patches draws the eye away from the entire quilt to rest on them.
I also like the idea of a square in a square, but keep it in the border colors already established. No green. |
if you need it softer, perhaps a drunkard's path block would work.
The 4 patch is perfect for your quilt. Good job!
It's perfect and not too busy
Did you happen to notice the left border at the top has a section that is upside down? On purpose? There are two small squares close together and it looks as if it was flipped when you sewed it on. Lovely quilt (and if it is too late to change it, then it was creative!).
Perfect I love the 4-patch corners works great with the border and brings the green out at the same time moving the eye in.
I think a 4-patch block would be the perfect solution, and would go great with that border.
