I am crying, but they are happy tears----
I have to tell this story----the Quilt board is such a wonderful place with wonderful people. I was contacted by Johans of the Munising Bay Quilt Guild when I was downsizing my stash....I didn't have any extra stash left but I did have a quilt top ( of Naval Air images) I had pieced for my husband before he passed away suddenly. He loved airplanes especially the Corsair and He was a Navy SeeBee in Vietnam. (Agent Orange was determined to have caused his death)
I just couldn't bring myself to finish the quilt and offered it to Joann as they were making quilts for veterans. Not only did they finish the quilt beautifully they did present it to a Vietnam Vet on Memorial day. She sent me a clipping and cd of the ceremony honoring my husband's and other veteran's service....... I am so eternally grateful, |
How wonderful. I'm glad you now have happy tears.
Take care. |
what a great tribute.

What a heart warming story! It deserves happy tears!

Wonderful!!! You did a great thing in donating the top -- and brightened someone else's life with your generosity. Your story brought tears to my eyes too -- happy ones!

What a wonderful ending for your quilt top. Just great memories for you to have. I am sorry you lost your Husband. These memories will stay with you forever.

harrishs,
What a heart warming story. So glad you were able to put that top to the best possible use. I lost a friend to Agent Orange as well. Such an ugly exposure to succumb to. He suffered for some time. Our veterans are such a blessing. It takes someone very special to serve our country this way. I have so much respect for men like your husband and the many other brothers and sisters who protect our liberties. Thank you for the part you played serving this country as well. It takes a village to make these guys feel like they're home and they're safe again. Prayers for you and your family. Hugs to you and the people that made this donation possible. My hats off to all of you. :) |
It seems hardly anyone doesn't know someone affected by agent orange. I have a friend fighting for his life right now.
|
What a wonderful story. Im sure the quilt will be treasured as much for the generosity as the story behind it.
|
What a wonderful way to honor your husband. My husband is a veteran of that war and was exposed to agent orange also, however so far he has only suffered skin rashes from it. May God bless you and you will be in my prayers.
