A friend of mine was cleaning out her aunt's house. They were doing a closet, she and her male cousin, and all of a sudden she started yelling I can't believe it, Ohmigosh!!! The male cousin thought she had found a stash of money but it was actually feed sacks from the 30's and 40's.....much better than money!!!!!

okay forgive my ignorance, but what is a feed sack and what was its purpose and why are they so desirable now.
I may kick myself for asking, since this may become a new addiction.:D:thumbup: BTW, pinkberry, if you think you might become addicted, stay away from the feedsacks while you recover from the vintage machine addiction.;) |

So do you have enough to make a quilt? If so get started on sewing/piecing/quilting, and limit your computer time. Another method is give yourself a "allowance" for the week/month when its gone its gone.
FYI those feed sack fabrics aren't going to be enough when you are "living under a bridge", or in a van down by the river. Rofl. About feeds sacks |
Feed Sacks...
Many years ago my sister and I were at an auction and purchased a huge box of them. We took them home and cut them in half so we each had the same prints. I used several of mine one time in a table runner. It is my favorite runner of all times. I have used it on my kitchen table for many years. It washes beautifully and the fabric has held up really well. Hmmm.....might have to get that box back out and play again.... Enjoy them!

Thanks for posting pictures of feed sacks. They were before my time and Mom was not a sewer so I had no idea they were so pretty. I'll have to add those to my "things to get" list.
