Tonight I bought a Queen Quilter Eighteen long arm machine!!!! I can't have it delivered for about 3 1/2 weeks  . Then I have to schedule the guy who will come and set it up for me. So I think it will probably be about 5 weeks before I can even try it. Then I will be back at work. Oh, I think I am going to be sick in the middle of September! I must say my dear, dear husband is the one who encouraged me to go ahead and get it. I really got lucky with him!!!!

You lucky girl! Did you do a lot of research before you decided on this particular model? I'm making room for a longarm - hope to take the plunge before the end of the year. I'm just starting to research the various models.

I went more with the store than anything else as far as brand, and the size was what I felt like I wanted to pay. About 15 minutes after I filled out the forms, all the employees in the store knew my name and talked to me. The owner of the store, a much older gentleman, is the one who helped me last week when I stopped in. This is the same place I bought my sewing machine cabinet from, and they were very helpful then. I know I can get all the support I need from them, and that counts a lot with me.

I am so excited for you!!
You are going to have so much fun!

MomtoBostonTerriers 07-20-2010 11:07 AM

Hey, Cathie, you are in Garland, I'm in Dallas (White Rock Lake area). . . Can I be your best friend?

The long arm is great news, and I'm excited on your behalf. Good for you! Blessings on the head of your DH who encouraged you to make the purchase. He's a keeper!

isnthatodd 07-20-2010 11:38 AM

Hey, mom, you bet!!!

hawaiiquilter 07-20-2010 11:48 AM

How exciting! I dream about getting a long arm, too, but I know there are so many different kinds that I hardly know where to start. I bought a retirement townhouse in Colorado where I will have the room (not possible here in Hawaii), so I'm trying to learn about which ones people really love. Hope to get to Houston next yearwhere there should be plenty of vendors for long arms.

Enjoy your wonderful new toy!
