This is a long shot, but how about spray water on it like starch and then iron it and see if it will flatten or stretch out.

Deema, I totally understand how you feel, I really do. BUT I think the quilt looks beautiful! The others gave you some good advice and I hope something works for you

I don't see anything wrong with it. I like the look when it does that. I'd just try to iron the edges. The binding is the only thing that really looks changed.

I keep looking at the before and after pictures and all I see is a beautiful quilt that has been washed and dried. It looks pretty normal to me. I'd give it a press and present it with pride.

I guess my eyesight is worse than I knew, cause it looks good in the pic. I'd be proud to have it on my bed.
Can you press...steam etc & if you still aren't happy,just tell MIL the story.Let her take it from there. I'm betting she'll be so happy that you cared enough to make the quilt.You can buy a bottle of "wrinkle release".....sold in laundry dept. Supposed to take wrinkles out of fabric. You could also take it to a dry cleaner for an opinion.Buck up....it's lovely....you did good !

I would call my local dry cleaner and ask to have it pressed professionally.

Can't you steam out it?I am not sure,but that is what I would try to do.
