I could use some input :)

In a person "moratorium" on buying any more fabric, started to use all the bitts & pcs,
there were enough remnants of Brown and Blues to make 12 squares 12"x12". although some of the backing had to be pieced, so the dark stars must stay in the corners ;) There was no real solid plan, but since there is plenty of Brown left, (darn) I was just going to use strips of brown to join the squares. Apparently I didn't have my "Math Cap" on, because when I finished the appliqué and did a little "mock up" I realized that I will have 36" by 48" which I wouldn't want any wider, but would like longer to make it a "sort of " Twin. So PLAN B....I am thinking I will just assemble the squares, add appliqué in the corners and then stripes at the top and bottom ???? Any creative input, greatly appreciated :) |
Beautiful! I am working on 8” stars from cut off pieces at the moment, and roughly following Donna Jordan’s Starry Log Cabin. Maybe framing your stars would work, rather than just plain sashings. You might get an idea from looking at her video.

Wow, that just blew my mind a bit , I like the idea very much, BUT I would have to use 2 squares by 4 , that would leave 4 squares left over ..... and then I would have to start another quilt .....;)

That would be 36" + trim, so about 42" wide
It's more about logistics, as I quilt in my lap.... I can certainly see how this could get out of hand, I very much like Donna Jordan’s Starry Log Cabin.... and I am afraid now STARS and LOG cabins are on my mind...;) I will try to get a grip as I am on a time and number of quilt limit, ;) |
If you are just looking To make it longer you could add piano key strips
to top and bottom. Or if you have enough to make 3 more blocks, you could add 1/2 blocks to top and the other half on the bottom |
Are you set on a blanket style quilt? I have been intrigued with the bed runners (not sure if that is what they are called) that goes on the foot of the bed. Make it 2 x 6 blocks.

I might just be too practical for something that decorative. :)
Although I have been intrigued by table runners ;) I think you have several good ideas presented here. |
