I did not know this.
Our group has been asked for childrens quilts. No panda bears as the kids see bears with a black eye.

I'm assuming you're talking about children who come from abusive homes, hence the black eye might be a sad reminder? Thanks for the info, that would never have occurred to me.

That is so sad.

Oh, it took me a minute. I actually have one now but the Dermatologist caused mine. so far no one has asked me about it. waiting for my great grandchildren to come visit...

That would never have occurred to me, either.

So much hurt in the world of children! I had the principal call social services when a student flinched as I reached for a book. I was right - severe abuse, but done so it didn't show. I didn't know about the pandas.

Men like straight lines, not curved ones. No paisleys.

I never would have considered that either. Very sad that a lovable creature such as a Panda can be seen as abusive. Thanks for the tip.

Interesting .... There are all sorts of animals that have one or two "black eyes".
Our guild has done quilts for a shelter that works with battered families for several years and we have never had such a request. Perhaps they have a child at the moment that is super sensitive to this. |
