You have a very nice hubby if he encouraged the fabric shopping! Lucky girl.

You will have many wonderful reminders of you trip with those beautiful fabrics!

So happy you had such a nice vacation and pleasant experience here in the USA. Even though we live in a rural area we're use to having to travel some distance to get what we want. So a 50-75 mile trip is nothing for us. In that circumference we have access to 7 quilt shops plus numerous JoAnn's and a Hancock's so we are indeed lucky! Also, order on line at times due to the price of gas. Your fabric choices were stunning. Please post a picture as you go along.

Glad you enjoyed your trip! I have heard that LQS are hard to find in most parts of Canada, as they are in some parts of the USA. You got lucky! Have fun with your new stash! :)

That was a shame as I really like going to a new place and visiting the local markets and fabric stores and meeting the people that live there as well as seeing the sights.

Your DH sounds like a really nice guy! Suggesting stopping at all those shops. I can't imagine my sweetie doing that, but he does tag along sometimes.
Beautiful choice of fabrics, by the way. And, what a nice trip. |
Thank you all for your nice comments.
Yes, I considere myself lucky because of my husband wanting to drive by "some" quilt shops (3 or 4 would be the most he is willing to go too but this is very acceptable for me). I think he admires all the beautiful quilts that his sister make and has been making for the last 20 years. We had a very nice vacation as far as Nashville then getting away from all the tornadoes we headed west by Dodge City, Denver and Salt Lake City. Much more to see I know. and I haven't seen all of Canada either even if I have been from Newfoundland to Vancouver... It's a big continent loll |
Dear helou.
Depending where you live in Quebec a LQS store might be closer than you think! Are you far from Montreal? There are international crossings to New Hampshire. Please google a map to Center Harbor! AT Lake Winnepesauke! That is where KEEPSAKE QUILTING is! The nicest most beautiful quilt store possible! |
You found some beautiful things.
|
Thank you
Jeannie, thank you for the information. I looked it up and it would be a 5 hour drive. I'm a good 2 to 3 hours east of Montreal. I kept the address though because we might be driving this way in the Falls... Thanks |
Just guessing, you probably don't care for green cause the color doesn't look good on you. I heard from some source that we tend to like colors that look good on us.
Welcome to the states, I hope you get a chance to visit a few more of our "quilterly" places. Amish communitys have fabulous shops, Shipshewanna, Ind., Pennsylvania etc. One was so fab that I had to step out for awhile, sensory overload. LOL. |
Harriet Hargrave's store is less than 2 miles from my mom's when I visit her I almost always go shopping at Harriet's. I have to be careful to not over spend the fabrics are so great. There is something for every taste. I love her batiks.

Judi, I think you may be right as it make me look "yellowish" when I wear some of the greens. the forest green suits me but when it comes to choosing different coordinating green fab that's where I hesitate as far as my liking goes....loll
Kateyb. I thought her staff was the most helpful people I ever encountered in a fabric store. |
Oh, such pretty choices for a stash. I am glad you had a good time.
|
I'm new to this what does "LQS" mean?
Thanks |

LQS is Local Quilting Store (or something like that) |
Sounds good I appreciate the help - sec

one of my favorite souvenirs is fabric from the place we visited, preferably with a theme representing that place. For example, in Maine, I bought blueberry and lobster fabric. In Florida, I got flamingo fabric.

right! I bought for my SIL fabrics with bears and forests. she has a small wooden cottage in the country where she can sometimes see bears...That's right I did not put them on the pictures I forgot.
Then I bought a nice panel at Harriet Hargrave's store. A reminder of my vacation |
Just read your post. Holloway's Country Home is a wonderful place to shop. Maria (the owner) is a real gem. Luckily, I live close enough to her shop that it's an easy trip for me to make.
|
Beautiful area you live in and I found her store was so nice, stylish and with beautiful fabrics!
|
She does have beautiful fabrics, that's for sure. We are so lucky to live in the Smoky Mountains. Here's Holloway's website if you're interested

Lovely site. I took her business card while I was there but I forgot that others might be interested. Thanks.
