Keep going, it will make a dramatic addition to your beautiful quilt. Love that guitar.

I think it is fantastic. Don't sweat it, besides, after it is washed (it can be washed, right)? it will scrunch up a bit and that perfectly straight string line won't be so perfect anymore anyway.

It's great! Be sure to finish it!

I agree. I think that would look better than the string, but that's just my opinion. You do what you want. It's your
quilt and your nephew.

Looks good to me ,great idea.

I think the creativity is great. I would definitely continue, but maybe redo the line to be straight....and I think the idea of a metallic pearl cotton sewn is a great one. Would be so much faster. I wouldn't couch it...just hand stitch it.

I would continue, its not exact like a photo..... looks great to me

It looks great. I'm glad my husband didn't see it. He would be wanting one just like it.

Nana up north your being to hard on yourself!! We are only looking at one string so of course it stands out. I'm sure once all the strings are on it will be great. It looks great so far and really creative. Please so us a picture when it is completed.

I showed your picture of the guitar to DH and asked him about the strings (he plays too) and he said definitely have the strings on it it makes it look 3D and then he looked at it again & made the remark....her nephew sure is a lucky guy. Uh no, I am not good enough to do that sort of thing yet so forget it hunny bunny lol.

I'm making this guitar quilt for a great nephew. I wanted to make it as realistic as possible so I found some metallic thread and thought I'd attach it with a couching stitch to make the guitar strings. I've started with the thickest string (12 strands of thread). But now that I've gotten it about 1/2 sewn down, I'm not so sure I like it. Maybe it's because my string line isn't perfect..... or maybe it's because the couch stitches show up so much. Or maybe it's because this is a lot of work. But what do you all think? Should I continue or just not have strings on the guitar? I don't want it to look awful.

Just a thought....are you twisting the silver thread? It does not look like it, maybe you would be happier with the result if you did? Guitar strings are made of twisted wire. Try it on a sample and see what you think? The quilt is looking very nice so far!

Looks great. Keep going!

Well, I have the strings done now. In fact, I have the guitar done. I posted it here on the Main thread because I wanted your opinion about finishing it up. But, the QB moderators moved it to the pictures thread. So, if I know how to insert the site.... here it is.

Thanks to everyone for your encouragement..... you all keep me going.

I think you should continue with string. the couching stitches remind me of the frets on guitar. makes the different sounds. i am sure that once you have this string completely couched you will see how awesome it truly is!

many blessings
