I would like to start paper piecing, and I have NO IDEA where to start! Does anyone have recommendations for good beginner books or projects? Any websites that you use or would recommend? I'm a visual learner, so lots of pictures is good!
Thanks in advance everyone! |
there is a tute here on the baord to give you the basics, quilters cache has one too as well as lots of PP patterns
ENJOY! |
I love quilter's cache - so many patterns and a simple block to start you off on paper piecing. I love it, although it is sometimes tedious, but the results are fabulous. Hope you get hooked on it.

Look for Carol Doak's site. She has a DVD that shows you many tips, too. She is one of the queens of paper piecing. I attended one of her workshops a few weeks ago and had such a great time.

carol doak books have great instuctions and lots of beginner patterns to try. paper piecing is very forgiving and a wonderful technique (once you get the hang of it...it can be quite a trial at first) start with something simple like a tree...something with a minimum amount of peices then start at #1...there are tutorials and help to check out too...

I found PP to be very fun and easy, I came across it early on and didn't know it was supposed to be difficult LOL
Maybe search ebay or other online sources for one of Carol Doaks Book/CD combos. There are many YouTube videos too on this :D:D:D |
My local library actually has some great quilting books available for loan.
My local quilt guild also has a free library. These sources as well as internet tutorials and info are all great. I prefer to save on books unless I am really in love with a book ... and put my few schekles into actual quilting supplies. ali |
