Sorry if I've missed something. |

(snip) I am disturbed when things are put in a negative light, but I have to say I have seen very little of that in this forum. People tend to encourage each other in a positive way. I look at everything, but only comment on a few. That doesn't mean I don't appreciate what I see. Now off to find out what the heck a Bow Tuck bag is... ;o) |
I agree, please STOP!!!

On the other hand, the X-bag has worked out so well for me, I think I've made 5 of them over the last couple of years. I made them seasonal. I've worn two of them out. This board could almost use a section devoted to bags! |

me too ,but don't care in the main for table runners either.

I think the main thing I like about the Bow Tucks is that you can use your very favorite fabrics and have a one of a kind purse that is yours alone. This means not everyone will like it, but it is your creation alone. I bought the pattern but have yet to make one, though I have several great fabrics in mind already. It's ok not to like Bow Tucks.

Hey, I am still looking for a good hobo bag pattern. At shows I have seen them for sale and seen ladies carrying them, but it seems like the tote (in various sizes) is the big favorite. I also like the idea of a craft section ....even if it a link to blogs.

I don't get into them either.

I was interested in making one until I saw one made up. while I think it is a nice bag, it really isn't for me. Same thing with the grommet bag that's so popular. i did buy the grommet pattern and started making it. Got mostly done and really didn't like it after all. set it aside for several months. DD saw it and thought it was great so I finished it and gave it to her.Again,it was a nice bag but really not what i wanted for myself. personally I also think the vera bradley bags are over-rated too. But that's me and my taste. If others like them-that's great.

I don't know what it is. But people here in Ogden, Ut are just crazy about them. And my girlfriend is making and selling them for $40.00 each. And I get one just for asking. It will be my late Xmas present. They are cute and have lots of pockets in them. And I need lots of pockets. If you don't like them, you don't need to get one.

I just like purses in general. It's a way I can have many different ones without spending a bunch of money. To each his own.

Out of boredom, I made one with Christmas fabrics. I LOVE it!!!!!!! It's just the right size for me. I usually like long handles, but I know the majority of people don't. My thoughts were to make it so I could sell it if I didn't like it. Nope -- I'm keeping this one and will make another!
|
I happen to be one of the "like" people. I have made 20 or more but I only have one in my possession..I can't keep them because everybody that sees them wants one. I have given some away and I have sold some. I was making one last week with a group of quilting ladies and one them saw the purse before it was even done and wanted to buy it. I sold it to her today. They are fun to make and I love how each one is different.

Why post if you don't like something. Just don't look at the posts.
|
i think they are pretty but i just don't carry that kind of purse...i carry a black coach purse sometime a brown one...goes with everything

I find it interesting that you revived a thread that's almost 2 years old.... |

I guess that's where personal preferrence comes into play. We all like different things in one way or the other. I personally like Coach bags but not the normal brown ones, I only get ones that I like that are different and then I only go to the outlets and get them on sale really cheap. I'm just now getting into Miche bags which my sister sells and I like their concept; you buy the base purse and then buy the shell to go on the outside. Instead of switching out purse you just take the shell off and put another on which is held on by magents. My friend has had one for a couple of yrs and they hold up well. I've seen a few homemade purses that I like and have made one that turned out nice.
|
Same here. I don't see what the big deal is with them. I'm more into the quilts.
|
I have made many of them for others, but I do not use a big purse these days. I have down sized to something to put my credit cards in and check book only in.
|
I dont care for them either. Guess Im just not into the bowtucks..lol

As a newbie, I had to go look up "Bow Tucks" bag...but what I found was that while I wouldn't use this kind of "purse," and that I'm also not necessarily into certain "crafty" aspects of quilting, I have found that my favorite new grocery bag was not one of the flimsy ones, but one where the store created a thicker 'quilted' variety. Now that I have that one, I just saw a recent "Go Green" pattern at e-patterns, and bought that one...and KQ has a nifty tote.
I thought the only thing I might ever create was quilts. There are different types of 'quilting' that I am not fond of, but now that I'm getting more exposed to "the world of quilting," I can see that maybe there ARE crafty items that I might like, and things that I thought I didn't like I am pleasantly surprised that I do! Thanks for the bump; newbie eyes opened! |
I made one to expressly match the dress I wore to my daughter's "in the park" wedding. It was a nice summer purse and not hard to make. I still use it in the summer. The variey of fabrics and ease of assembly are most likely the "draw" for this style of pocketbook.

Man's wallet in jeans pocket. I hate carrying anything. But some of the sites for those purses also led to nice carrier bags for tablets. I have Acers, and Ipad tablet covers don't work.

[QUOTE=Jim's Gem;1896403]Good question???? I'm not a "purse" person. If I can throw my licence and stuff in my pocket, I am a happy camper. I have one purse, for every occasion.[/QUOTE
