Good for you!!! I am so glad you entered the fair, your work is beautiful and deserves a blue ribbon.

tulip43 09-10-2009 06:49 AM

Hi from Canada, Your work is Great. So glad to that you entered into a local fair. We need more quilters to enter as it is always adds to the fair and not everyone can win .I do judging at local fairs and it amazes me the talet that comes from around the district. Quilters can put their quilts in for disply only if they don't want to be judged. This adds to to the fair. It can be any craft for display. I always admire your work on this site.
Keep up the great work. Just love your pillow!!!!!

k3n 09-10-2009 06:51 AM

OK Eddie - why am I NOT surprised! WTG mate - and those two were two of my favourite works of yours so I must have good taste, right? And well done to Olivia for getting Dad into line! :D

Bayou Quilter 09-10-2009 06:55 AM

That's awesome!!! Congratulations.... No matter how good we think our quilts are, it so nice to have someone else agree..... :-) :-) Beautiful work especially the pillow...never had the courage to try those windows...lol

Lucky Patsy's 09-10-2009 06:57 AM

Congrats! Both of your items are outstanding! I am working on a cathedral window pillow my self. It looks like you turned back the windows by machine. Was that difficult? How big of squares did you start out with? Have you seen the book "Cathedral window quilts " by Lynne Edwards? I have been drooling over her creations!

SSTeacher 09-10-2009 06:59 AM

Good job Eddy! Now aren't you glad you entered? Time to start planning for next year's fair and find a local quilt show!
I took the big leap in entering a local quilt show, it's next Saturday. I don't think I will win ribbons but I am looking forward to seeing my quilt hanging in a show.
Congrats. PS will you share what the judge wrote??

Klue, I smiled when I read that because one of the comments that the judge wrote on the back of my entry tag was something like "nice work on the binding". When I read that I immediately thought of that thread here on the forum from a few days ago where we were discussing hand vs. machine binding and the comments in the thread about judges looking at the execution rather than the technique.

It's all machine done. Hand sewing just doesn't appeal to me personally because of the time involved, although I really like to see it when others do it.
