I'm working on my very first quilt, a flannel rag baby quilt. I have five rows of eight squares already sewn.

Now the problem is I realized I sewed the edges of the seams open. :(

I just viewed the videos again and two said sew one seam to one side and the other to the other side and one said to sew them open.
I really don't want to rip out five rows, will it really matter when it's done??????

I did this and just cut the edges on both sides of the seams. Does that make sense? It wears and washes just fine :)

Not to throw another wrench in the works but rag quilts are a choking hazard for babies because they can chew on the raw fabric edges. These quilts are only recommended for children over 3 years.

I do cut strings off everytime I wash mine.

I don't think it will matter which way you sew the seems. I sewed mine opened, but the other way will work fine too. So don't stress, just keep doing it the way you are. It will turn out fine. Then we want to see a pic of it!

They should tell you that in the videos and where ever they publish the free patterns!
