I just bought three little quilt blocks from them to decorate my sewing area. Haven't started on them yet, but they look like fun!

I saw them in the catalog and at a show. I just have to laugh because these have been around for years. I did several of them at least 15 years ago after watch Carol Duval make one on her show. They are STILL hanging in my sewing room. She used flat Styrofoam. She traced a design on the styrofoam and then cut into it with a knife, then you push the fabric in the cuts. Simple and Fun.

Fabriclovr-------------Thank you for showing the picture. I really like what you did with the cats.

Yes, I bought a kit at a quilt show. After doing it (which was super easy), I thought it might be a fun project to do with a group of ladies. I could not find the core board at a reasonable price, so I never proceeded with the idea.

I bought a small one of these for my DD for Christmas...6" square? Anyway, she loved it but I don't think she's made it yet. By the way, she doesn't sew....I bought hers from Amazon.com at a reduced price.

I found the fabric that I used in a Michael's craft store and they had a few fat quarters. I had to use two to get the amount of cats I needed, but what took the most fabric was the grey stripe, they were the trash cans the cats were sitting on! LOL I took a piece that I had left over and attached it to the back so I could see what the whole piece looked like before I cut it into little pieces :)

I bought one of these kits at the Sewing Expo in Seattle a few years ago... It was pretty and fun but I kind of lost interest after the first one and never used it again. The result was nice - the foam was thicker, maybe 3/4" if I remember right. Foamcore would not work as the finished top would make pressing the fabric into it difficult. Something more like a floral foam block is the right consistancy. I'll look & see if I still have the instructions...

I found one of these kits at a rummage sale last year and had my 8 yr old DGD put it together. she loved it and it looked great. I also made a copy of the design for future use - waste not want not!

I want to make one of my own with my daughters' names. One to hang above each of their beds.
