I got a great deal on a walking foot :)
 

I have been quilting like crazy since Friday when I got my walking foot at Hancocks! Yay! So this lady on you tube said that the fabric does not slide and it will be just perfect. Not ture at all! So I learned that you still have to pin, pin, pin. After using it all day I have learned how to keep it from sliding all over and evetually am getting a straight line...kinda. I have to admit I thought it would be easier with the quilting guide but I think the old masking tape trick might be better. What are your thoughts?

I recently started using a walking foot on a machine that I can't drop the feed dogs on. I love the walking foot. So much fun to quilt with it. I purchased a quilt guide for it later and that made it even easier to use. I love it for putting the binding on as well.

I wouldn't even begin to quilt without a walking foot unless all I did was FMQ.

i have one but have never used it. i am almost scared to try it.
but when i go for lesson for my 7700 i guess it has one built in
i will ask her to teach me how to use it and see if i like it.

It is quilting designs you can do with a walking foot, all straight line quilting.

I use my walking foot on my older Pfaff for almost all of my sewing. I just finished putting binding on (sewed to the back and turned to the front) and it did such a good job. The walking foot on my Pfaff is built-in, just snaps down when needed. It is the greatest feature on that machine. My Brother is a great machine, but I just don't like the separate attachment of a walking foot.

Glad to hear you are having a good time! I don't quilt so I have no advice, just happy to see you've been super busy quilting. You'll be great at it in no time!

I agree with you, TexasSunshine---I also have a 14 year old Pfaff with the built-in walking foot which I used for all my sewing--mostly garments until a couple years ago when I started more quilting. Also have a Brother which I got a year ago and don't like having to attach the walking foot every time so still use the Pfaff a lot. Live and learn, I guess !!!!!
