I got Jazzed

Well , as many of you know, my work horse Viking Emerald has been in the repair shop for a week now. Still have no idea what's wrong and when I called the store, I was told I would get a call from the repair person. I have been relegated to use my old New Home 8000 or stop my embroidery projects on my Janome Horizen 12000. Yesterday, I attended a Tech Party at a Sewing shop and ended up ordering a Babylock Jazz. I played around with it and it was as if I was one with it. Loved it it's quiet, stitches are good, bobbin easy, and with a little knack I was able to control the needle so it was down. That's one feature it does not have but overall very very happy. Received $$ for a trade in on the New Home machine, $$ discount by attending the Tech Party, and 7 additional feet with carrying case ( total 16 feet) Oh happy dance! Now just have to wait until the first week of September.

Nancy, I've trying to find out the price of the "Jazz". No one and no shop I've called can tell me yet. Would you mind sharing what price you paid? It may be out of reach? Thanks so much!

Cybrarian 08-14-2016 06:27 PM

I think you'll love your new Babylock. I have a BL Serenade, and love it. Seems like all BL owners are in love.

SewingSew 08-15-2016 05:19 AM

I know I'm jealous! I love getting a new machine. Congratulations!

ManiacQuilter2 08-15-2016 05:36 AM

Congrats on finding the right machine for you!

Cheryl7758 08-16-2016 06:39 AM

Congrats! Looks like a great machine and looks all mechanical, no electronic components to get messed up. I would miss the needle up and down feature though.

Machine dealers think prices are top secret. LOL The Jazz is a new machine and won't be in the shops until fall of this year. A lot of promotions for it are at dealers. I would wait until the first batch are sold to read customer reviews about it.

roserips 08-16-2016 08:17 AM

Hard to wait but sounds exciting! Good score with all the feet and carrying case as well as all the discounts! At least September is only 16 days and counting!

annette1952 08-16-2016 09:20 AM

Sounds like a fantastic machine. Have fun when you get it & congratulations!

It's not the dealers, it's the manufacturers. Babylock is the toughest with their policy. No prices can be advertised or given over the phone. They want to get you in the store before they give you any prices.

I agree with waiting for the next batch of machines, that way the bugs are all sorted out.

I saw a video of the Jazz, it looks interesting. I won't be buying another one, doubt it would fit in my current Horn cabinet.

It always amazes me when I ask about the price and a sales person fails to answer but starts a pitch and all I really want to know is the prices because if it is out of my range I don't want to waste their time. There is no reason the shops can't tell you the MSRP. I know it is a sales gimmick to get you into the shop or to try and talk you into something you either can't afford or don't want to pay for on time, it just annoys me.

Onebyone 08-16-2016 10:14 AM

The dealers are now finding out that the manufacturers no price policy isn't enforced anymore but don't know about it. One dealer found out when asking about the price policy and was told 'do whatever to make a sell, it that means advertizing a price then do it". She apologized to her customers for not giving out prices because she though it was still against her agreement. If a dealer won't tell me the retail price then I give my money to someone who will.

Fizzle 08-16-2016 11:23 AM

Congratulations! I too am interested in the Jazz....

Shrink42020 08-16-2016 04:04 PM

I was quoted a price of $1,200 at the local Baby Lock dealer

Onebyone 08-16-2016 04:22 PM

That's a reasonable price.

Nanny's dollface 08-16-2016 04:42 PM

According to Babylock Facebook page , Manufactuere's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) is $1299. But as Shrink42020 commented, it's best to check with your local Babylock retailer for the price they are selling it- you may be pleasantly surprised.

Jingle 08-16-2016 05:12 PM

It would be very hard to wait. Waiting is not my strong trait. I have a babylock Jane, straight stitch only, all I ever do. I love the machine.
Enjoy your new machine.

bigdogmom 08-16-2016 05:55 PM

I had three Viking machines, but when I needed a new one, I bought the Babylock Crescendo, and I love it. the Jazz looks like a great machine, congratulations!

katsewnsew 09-03-2016 04:57 AM

Dealer told me the msrp price is $1199 - 1299. (I can't remember which!)
