I have a little "pencil magnet" that I run over everything to find them (smile). It works great.

gulf balls are colored.. would love to have florescent needles.

Those little Mechanic wands are good for finding lost needles and dropped pins just wave it around the floor and it will find it. They have a telescoping handle I got two for $3.00 at Harbor freight but you should be able to get them at any auto parts place.

I use a magnetic bingo wand...usually a $1 and worth it

BETTY62 03-09-2011 06:24 AM

And my husband is usually the one who sets it off. I keep telling him he needs to always wear shoses. LOL

erstan947 03-09-2011 06:26 AM

I'll send DH right over. He WILL find any stray pins or needles!!!!! Proven fact:):):)

dkabasketlady 03-09-2011 06:39 AM

I'll be right over, lol!! My DH says I have the most sensitive feet. If anythings on the floor my feet will find it!!

Butterflyblue 03-09-2011 06:43 AM

I swear, there is nothing worse than dropping that tiny little between needle and then not being able to find it. Yeah, it's somewhere in my chair, but when will I find it, and with what body part?

My DH's bare feet also have a magnetic attraction to lost pins and needles. Worst was once when my BIL was visiting though, and HE found one of my pins.

I have a magnetic pin cushion and use that for those pesky lost needles.

raedar63 03-09-2011 06:56 AM

I have an extra magnetic pin cushion it is about 5x5 square. It is strong enough to hold a several hundred pins ,sow it is very strong and wide enough to make fast searching. They are only about 3 bucks. I love them for pin cushions and finders!

My dad took a heavy duty magnet and glued it to a long dowel and gave that to me. The dowel was too long and so I broke it off some and that way, when I drop a pin, I just grab it and run it over the floor in my area that I am working and will find it every time AND without me having to get up and risk stepping on it.

chairjogger 03-09-2011 07:15 AM

great ideas here ! but too, looks like I am in great company ! ha ha

The worst is when you're quilting in bed and lose needles or pins. Thankfully I've always found them just in time.

I'm not so bad these days, but when I first started I kept on losing needles while piecing. Once I lost five in an afternoon. We started to wonder whether I was eating them!

debbieumphress 03-09-2011 02:05 PM

I agree losing needles is not fun but finding them is worse sometimes. As soon as I drop one I get my magnet wand and get to looking for it. Just like those little burrs that DH brings in on his shoes, my feet find them. I still have some MIA in my recliner somewhere. :(
